More Than a Room. A Place to Build Your Life.
Arriving in a new country is one of the most significant transitions a person can make. DC Global College's student accommodation is designed to make that transition as smooth, safe, and welcoming as possible.
Every property in the DC Global College accommodation network is located in the Trindade neighbourhood — the academic heart of Florianópolis, walking distance from campus, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, and a vibrant student community. You will not need to navigate an unfamiliar city alone to find your feet. Everything is within reach from the moment you arrive.
Rooms are fully furnished, professionally maintained, and equipped with everything a student needs to study, rest, and live comfortably from day one. All utilities — Wi-Fi, water, and electricity — are included. There are no hidden costs, no complicated utility accounts to open, and no furniture to purchase on arrival.
For students who have never lived independently before, the DC Global College accommodation community provides an immediate social environment. Students from Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Kenya, Brazil, and the United Kingdom live in close proximity — creating a genuinely international living experience that extends the learning environment well beyond the classroom.
Everything Provided. Nothing Left to Figure Out.
Every DC Global College accommodation arrangement includes the same comprehensive package, regardless of room type. Students arriving from abroad should not have to worry about logistics. We have already taken care of them.
High-Speed Wi-Fi
Dedicated fibre broadband throughout every property. Minimum 100Mbps download speeds — sufficient for live online classes, video calls, and simultaneous streaming. The connection is the same standard used on campus.
Fully Furnished Room
Every room includes a single bed with mattress, wardrobe, study desk, ergonomic chair, bedside table, and lamp. Shared or private rooms are dressed and ready for occupation on arrival. Students bring personal items only — nothing else is required.
Bed Linen and Towels
A complete set of bed linen — duvet, pillows, fitted sheet, and two pillowcases — is provided on arrival. Bath and hand towels are provided for the first two weeks. A linen exchange service operates fortnightly throughout the academic year.
Water and Electricity
Water and electricity are included within a fair-use allowance — sufficient for normal residential use throughout the year. Students are not required to set up utility accounts or manage any bills. The cost is absorbed into the monthly accommodation fee.
Fully Equipped Kitchen
Shared kitchens are equipped with refrigerator, hob, oven, microwave, kettle, and toaster. Cookware, utensils, crockery, and glasses are provided. Students share the kitchen with flatmates and are expected to maintain it to a reasonable standard, as outlined in the accommodation agreement.
Regular Cleaning of Common Areas
A professional cleaning service attends all properties fortnightly to clean common areas — hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas. Students are responsible for maintaining their own rooms and for daily kitchen hygiene. Individual room deep-cleaning is available as an optional paid service.
Airport Transfer on Arrival
A DC Global College team member meets all new students at Florianópolis International Airport (FLN) and transfers them directly to their accommodation. This service must be booked at least 7 days before arrival. The cost is USD 35 one way, payable with the accommodation booking confirmation.
24/7 Welfare Support
DC Global College's student welfare team is reachable by WhatsApp 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the academic year. For maintenance issues, the response target is 24 hours for non-urgent matters and 4 hours for urgent issues affecting health or safety.
Choose the Option That Works for You
Three accommodation options are available, each offering the same comprehensive inclusion package at a price point to match different budgets and preferences.
Shared Room
Shared rooms are allocated to two students of the same gender, typically from different countries. The shared arrangement is the most social option and creates immediate friendships between students who are both new to Florianópolis. Room sizes vary by property but all shared rooms include individual study spaces for each occupant.
Single Private Room
The most popular choice among DC Global College students — a private room within a shared student flat. Students benefit from the privacy and personal space of their own room while remaining part of a flat community with 3–5 other students. This is the option that best balances privacy, social connection, and value.
Studio Apartment
A self-contained studio apartment for students who require complete privacy and independence. Studios are compact but fully functional — bedroom, living area, private bathroom, and private kitchenette all within a single self-contained unit. The studio option is particularly popular with students who have previously lived independently and those undertaking longer programmes requiring focused study time.
The first month's accommodation fee is paid as part of the visa document trigger — paid with your 50% tuition deposit before visa application. Subsequent months are billed on the 1st of each month, payable via PIX, bank transfer, or card.
Payment of the first month's accommodation triggers the issuance of the Carta de Alojamento — the accommodation letter required by Brazilian consulates as part of your VITEM IV visa application.
Your accommodation place is reserved from the moment your deposit is received. No separate accommodation application is required. Room allocation is confirmed in writing with your visa documents.
All accommodation prices are quoted in USD for international clarity. Actual invoices are issued in BRL at the exchange rate applicable on the invoice date. USD equivalent pricing is fixed at time of booking confirmation.
Trindade — Everything Within Walking Distance
DC Global College accommodation is located in Trindade, the most student-oriented neighbourhood in Florianópolis. Here is what students have within walking distance from their front door.
DC Global College Campus
5 minutes walk
The campus is a short walk from all DC Global College accommodation properties — close enough to return between classes, have lunch at home, or attend evening sessions without needing transport.
UFSC University
8 minutes walk
The Federal University of Santa Catarina — one of Brazil's top universities — is accessible on foot. UFSC's campus includes libraries open to the public, a sports centre, food courts, and a large green campus that DC Global College students are welcome to use.
Supermarkets
5–10 minutes walk
Supermercado Bistek and Giassi both have branches within easy walking distance of the accommodation area. Both offer excellent fresh produce sections, imported goods, and competitive pricing — making weekly grocery shopping convenient and affordable.
Cafes and Restaurants
2–10 minutes walk
Trindade has an exceptional concentration of independent cafes, bakeries, and restaurants catering specifically to the student population. Lunch options from R$15–R$25 are readily available. Several cafes operate late into the evening and provide a comfortable environment for studying outside the room.
Bus Stops
2–5 minutes walk
Multiple bus routes serving the entire island operate from Trindade. The city centre is 15 minutes away. The airport is 25 minutes. All major beaches are accessible by direct or connecting bus within 30–45 minutes. An integrated bus card reduces fares by approximately 20%.
Healthcare
10 minutes walk
The local public health centre (UBS Trindade) is within walking distance and provides free healthcare to all registered students. Pharmacy chains including Panvel and Ultrafarma are within 5 minutes of all DC Global College properties. DC Global College registers all students with the UBS during orientation week.
Mobile and Banking
10 minutes walk
Vivo and Claro mobile stores are within easy reach of the accommodation area. Banco Bradesco, Banco do Brasil, and Nubank ATMs are available throughout Trindade. Digital bank accounts (Nubank, Banco Inter) can be opened entirely by smartphone without visiting a branch.
Beaches
30 minutes by bus
Florianópolis's closest beaches — Praia da Barra da Lagoa, Praia do Campeche, and Praia Mole — are accessible by direct bus from Trindade. The journey takes 25–40 minutes. The bus runs throughout the week and becomes more frequent on weekends and during summer months.
House Rules and Community Expectations
DC Global College accommodation is a shared community. These standards ensure that every student — regardless of cultural background, study schedule, or personal preferences — has a home that supports their success.
Quiet Hours
Quiet hours are observed from 22:00 to 08:00 on weekdays and 23:00 to 09:00 on weekends. Students may study, work, and move freely within their rooms at all times, but common areas must be kept to a conversational volume during these hours.
Guest Policy
Registered DC Global College students may have daytime guests between 10:00 and 22:00. Overnight guests require advance notice to the welfare team and must not exceed two consecutive nights in any seven-day period. All guests are the responsibility of the resident student.
Kitchen and Common Areas
Students are expected to clean up immediately after cooking, store personal food items in designated storage, and maintain common areas to a reasonable standard of cleanliness. A cleaning rota is established within each flat during the first week of residence.
Security
All properties are fitted with electronic access control. Students receive individual access codes or key fobs that are not to be shared with non-residents. The front door must be secured at all times. Lost access devices must be reported to the welfare team within 24 hours.
Prohibited Items
Smoking is not permitted inside any DC Global College accommodation property or within 5 metres of any building entrance. The use of illegal substances on the premises is strictly prohibited and constitutes immediate grounds for eviction. Candles and portable heating devices are not permitted in rooms.
Reporting Issues
Maintenance issues, welfare concerns, or flat disputes must be reported to the student welfare team via WhatsApp. The welfare team operates a 24/7 emergency line and a standard business-hours line for non-urgent matters. Students are encouraged to report any concern early — before it escalates.
A Safe Environment, Built In from the Start
Student safety is the foundational requirement of every DC Global College accommodation property. No property is offered to students that does not meet the institution's full safety and security standards.
Electronic Access Control
All properties use electronic access systems — no traditional keys that can be copied or lost without notification. Individual access codes allow the welfare team to track building entry and identify any security concerns immediately.
Vetted Properties Only
Every property in the DC Global College accommodation network is personally inspected by the welfare team before allocation. Properties must meet standards for structural safety, fire safety, natural ventilation, adequate lighting, and proximity to campus before being approved for student use.
Safe Neighbourhood
Trindade is consistently among the safest residential neighbourhoods in Florianópolis — a city that already ranks among Brazil's safest. The high concentration of students and academic institutions in the area contributes to a well-lit, well-maintained, and actively used public environment throughout the day and evening.
24/7 Emergency Support
The DC Global College welfare team operates a 24-hour emergency WhatsApp line that is monitored throughout the night and on weekends. Students facing any safety concern — whether personal, medical, or relating to the property — are encouraged to contact the welfare team at any time without hesitation.
Accommodation FAQ
The questions our admissions team is asked most frequently about student accommodation in Florianópolis.
Can I choose who I share with?
Shared room allocations are made by the welfare team based on gender, nationality, and where possible, language compatibility. Students may submit a preference for a specific flatmate if they have applied together. Individual preferences are accommodated where possible but cannot be guaranteed.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
DC Global College accommodation does not provide catering — students prepare their own meals in shared or private kitchens. Students with severe allergies are advised to notify the welfare team on arrival so that appropriate kitchen storage arrangements can be made within the flat.
Can I bring my own furniture or appliances?
Small personal appliances — laptop, desk lamp, fan, hair dryer — are welcome. Students may bring personal bedding if preferred. Larger furniture items may not be added to rooms as all properties are furnished to a defined standard and additional items can create fire safety issues in smaller spaces.
What happens if I need to leave accommodation early?
Accommodation agreements are aligned to programme durations. Early departure requires a minimum of 30 days written notice to the welfare team. Accommodation fees paid beyond the 30-day notice period are non-refundable unless the departure is due to a medical emergency or force majeure event, which is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Is laundry included?
Washing machines are available in shared laundry areas within all properties. Washing machine use is included in the accommodation fee. Tumble dryers are not available in all properties. A laundry powder dispenser is stocked communally — students contribute to restocking on a rota basis.
Can I extend my accommodation beyond my course end date?
Students who extend their studies at DC Global College or who are awaiting university progression confirmation may extend their accommodation month-by-month on request, subject to availability. Extension requests should be submitted at least 30 days before the current accommodation end date.
Accommodation Is Reserved When You Apply
Your room is held from the moment your application deposit is received. There is no separate accommodation application process — your preferred room type is confirmed as part of your DC Global College admissions offer. Rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis within each intake cohort.
